Flight Of The Conchords – Homemade Robot Costumes

Flight Of The Conchords the TV show about the New Zealand band makes a great Halloween costume. You can dress up as Brett, Jemaine, Murray and Mel and it makes a great Group Halloween Costume. A fun play on the Flight of the Concords normal costume is to dress up as one of their many music song characters, in this case the Robots!

To make the robots just like the Flight Of The Conchords is actually rather simple. You will need the following supplies:

• Cardboard box (must be large enough to fit your shoulders)
• Cardboard box (must be able to fit your head)
• Two empty plastic water bottles
• Silver paint
• Flexible Ducting Pipe
• Colored paint for buttons

To create the Flight Of The Conchords Robots costume

Robot Body
1. Assemble the costume so that it fits over your shoulders
2. Cut arm holes in cardboard box
3. Cut stove pipe to length of arms so that it in holes on side of box
4. Glue pieces of paper to create buttons (or nipples as Jemaine calls them) to the front
5. Paint the entire thing silver
6. Paint the buttons different colors

Robot Head


7. Cut box to fit the size of your head
8. Cut hole in front to see out of
9. Cut the tops of off the water bottes and glue to the side of the head piece
10. Paint the entire thing silver

The end goal is to look like Brett and Jemaine in a robot costume so if you really wish you can get the square glasses, curly haired wig, etc..
