Medusa Halloween Costume

Medusa has a very storied history and is a unique and fun Halloween costume. Medusa was a very beautiful lady and the affection of many men. She eventually had relations with Poseidon in Athena's temple. Where upon, Athena caught them and placed a curse upon Medusa. The curse was that she would be so ugly that anyone who laid their eyes upon her would be turned to stone.

The Medusa costume is great on it's own as it's very recognizable or you can go with other characters of greek mythology. In this case you would consider Perseus (Male) who eventually beheads Medusa. Another option is Athena (Female) who places the curse upon Medusa. The final option is Poseidon as he was half the reason she had this curse places upon her.

Homemade Medusa Costume
To create a home-made Medusa costume we suggest you try to incorporate the roman theme and the Medusa theme. This means you will want to have leg wrappings that resemble the photo on the right. Combine this with a matching full-length green dress (or cut it to be a sexy-Medusa costume). The next thing to consider is the Medusa head-piece. You want to have a head-piece that everyone can recognize which means it must be full of snakes. You can buy cheap-plastic snakes at a dollar store and find a well fitting hat. You can then glue the snakes to the hat, cut out the top of the hat so your hair flows through it over and covers the hat. You should be left with just the snakes and your hair showing (ideally).
