How To Tie A Toga – Homemade Toga Halloween Costumes
A very popular and simple Halloween costume is a Toga Halloween costume. The Toga is well known for it's role back in the roman ages where everyone wore toga and eventually only the men of Rome were allowed to wear togas.
There are a lots of different ways to tie a toga depending on your style and gender. The following toga is named the simple toga as it's simple to put together and looks good. For more complicated toga's we recommend checking out a pre-made toga costume.
How To Tie A Toga
Items needed: Bed Sheet, 2-4 safety pins
- Wrap the sheet around your waist. If the sheet is too long start again by folding the sheet in half to your desired length. The typical length for men is anywhere between the top of the knees to your feet. For ladies you can create whatever length you want whether it's a short or long toga.
- Once it's wrapped around your waist pin it with a safety pin so that it'll stay on. You may have to wrap it around more than once to get the correct size.
- Take the end of the sheet and drape it over your shoulder. Now safety pin the end of the fabric to the fabric on your waist.
- For females - Now spread the fabric in the front to fully cover your front and attach with a safety pin at the back.
Now that you've finished tieing the toga make any other necessary modifications to create your desired look. You may want to add roman sandals, gold coin necklaces, greek head wreath and any other accessory that you think fit your toga costume.
Additional Tips
- Toga's don't have to be limited to Halloween as they make a great party theme.
- You will probably have to try wrapping the toga multiple times as nobody gets it right the first time.
- The sheet doesn't have to be white and can be any other color.
- The sheet should be one solid color and not a pattern
- Wearing something under the Toga is always a good idea
- If you don't own bed sheets go to a fabric store and buy a piece of fabric as it will be cheaper than buying sheets

How To Make A Homemade Lego Costume
Creating a Halloween costume from scratch can be fun and a good way to spend time with your kids, friends and/or family. One of the best costumes to make from scratch is a Lego Halloween costume as it's simple, cheap and turns out great! There are plenty of different homemade lego costumes that you can make including lego pieces, lego men or even a lego building. The picture to the right is from Craftzine.
Here are instructions on how to make a Lego Piece Halloween costume.
The costume should take approximately 1-4 hours. , however,
Items Needed:
- Cardboard Box - The box should be approximately the torso length of your child. As well, it should be slightly larger than the width of their shoulders.
- 6 Paper Cups
- Glue / Glue gun
- Tape measure
- Paint
- Paint Brush
- Matching shirt, gloves and pants.
How To Create Lego Pieces Costume
- Place box on the floor as it will be worn
- Remove the bottom of the box
- Cut a circle in the top of the box your head size
- Cut arm holes on the side of the box - Best to put the box on and select where you want the arms to come out (for comfort)
- Paint box desired color
- Glue on 6 paper cups to the front of the box
- Paint paper cups

Season 1 winners of Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew are a super popular dance crew. Jabbawockeez as most people know are the dance crew that wears the white masks during their performances. They wear the masks in order to encourage audiences to focus on their movements as a group instead of on individual dancers, which is super cool!
Unfortunately, there isn't a specific Jabbawockeez costume that you can buy which means that you have to put the costume together yourself. Luckily, we have assembled a list of all the things you'll need for your Jabbawockeez costume!

Pun and/or Punny Halloween Costumes – Funny Play On Words Costumes
These costumes are tailored for tailors because it always has them in stitches. Ok, enough with the puns and play on words, let's talk Costumes! Pun or Punny costumes are a great way to get a laugh while having a super creative costume on Halloween. This is the time to use your terrible sense of humor (like mine) and put it to use into a costume. We have listed a bunch of punny and funny Halloween costumes below that might be perfect for your costume this year. Luckily, most of them can be made with items in your house with a little creativity.
Cereal Killer - Glue small boxes of cereal to your clothing and stab each box with plastic knives. For added effect you can have red blood coming out of each of the boxes.
Tic Tac Toe - Simply glue tic tac's to your shoes or socks depending on where you're heading for Halloween night. Boom! Tic, Tac, Toe!
Smartie Pants - Grab an old pair of pants and glue smarties (or Smartie boxes) to the pants. If you have lots of time before the party we recommend doing individual Smarties and trying to coat your entire pants. Of course, they'll weigh a lot more afterwards but look really cool!
Ceiling Fan - Wear a shirt with the words ceiling, make a sign that says ceiling and walk around cheering like you're a huge fan! You might even want Pompoms to match your shirt/shorts!
Bun in the Oven - The Bun In the Oven costume is a great costume if you're pregnant. Dress up as an oven with a bun in the oven!
White Trash - Dress up in a white garbage bag with lots of 'garbage' attached to the bag. The 'garbage' can be any old garbage you won't mind hanging off your costume all night.
Identity Crisis - Wear a plain shirt with a bunch of different name tags attached to your shirt and pants. On each name tag you can write a different name or leave them open for other people to write down your name. This can be a fun interactive costume!
One Night Stand - Wear a night stand costume with everything from the night stand to the lamp. You are now the one night stand!
Chick Magnet - Get some old clothing and barbies. Glue or attach the Barbies to your clothes and you have the Chick Magnet!
Raining Cats and Dogs - You will need an umbrella, rain jacket and stuffed dogs and cats. Attach the dogs and cats to your open umbrella. You're now raining cats and dogs!
Hat Trick - Dress up like a hockey player and have a top hat with a stuffed rabbit. You can then pretend to pull the rabbit out of a hat!

Homemade Where’s Waldo Halloween Costume
Where's Waldo is a very popular children's classic book. As we all know, the goal of the books is to find Waldo hiding in various scenes around the world. But what's special about Waldo is the way he's always dressed in red and white striped clothing. That is also what makes this a very easy Halloween costume to make yourself.
Home made Where's Waldo Costume
To create your own Where's Waldo costume you will need the items listed below. We will assume that you DON"T have a red-and-white striped shirt (because why would you be on our site if you did!).
To create the Where's Waldo costume simply get a white shirt and red-duct tape. Using the red-duct tape create equally spaced lines of red and white on the shirt. You want it to look like Waldo's Shirt so be sure to take your time and have all parts of the shirt with red and white equally spaced. Note: we prefer red-duct tape as it's thicker so you don't have to spend as much time making the red-lines and it also comes out looking better. Next you need to create a similarly striped hat or toque. It might be easier to find a red-hat and to put 
white stripes on it. Either way, be sure to have a hat with a pompom at the top preferably. To finish off the costume you will need black round glasses just like Waldo. If you have old Harry Potter glasses though will work just fine!
You will need the following items:
- White Shirt
- Striped Red and White Hat (or Toque if you're Canadian)
- Red Duct Tape
- Round Black Glasses
- Jeans
- Black Shoes

Homemade Betty White Halloween Costume
Betty White has somehow gone from being a Golden girl to a super popular, trendy and even a viral sensation. After a very successful Facebook group was able to get Betty White as one of the guest hosts of SNL. This shows just how popular she is today! As most people know any very popular, trendy or viral subject makes a great Halloween costume! So without further ado making your own Betty White costume!
First thing you'll need is a curly grey haired wig. You can usually find these at a thirft store or online here. Now unless you enjoy wearing old-lady sweaters you'll have to raid your grandparents closet. If this isn't an option, again, the thrift store will have ladies section where you can put together the perfect old lady clothes. To make a good 'Betty White' costume you'll need a knitted sweater and slacks. The sweater should be something very "80's" or with pastel colors.

Homemade CSI – Crime Scene Investigation Halloween Costumes
Since CSI is such a great television show with a tons of watchers you know this is a great costume to wear during Halloween. What makes it even better is how simple it is. The idea being you dress up like one of the characters from the different TV shows. Of course, if you're going as a group you can also dress someone up as a crime scene victim too!
To dress up like a CSI character simply try to replicate there 'usual' attire. For example to become Horatio Caine (David Caruso) you need a suit jacket, dress shirt and aviator sunglasses. Of course, to ensure that everyone knows who you are it's best to have a piece of CSI paraphernalia or name-tag and even a police badge.
You will need the following supplies
- Suit Jacket (men)
- Power suit (women)
- Sunglasses
- CSI Badge / CSI Hat / Nametag

To put the costume together simply wear the construction vest, short jean shorts, tool belt and hard-hat. Depending on how risque you want to be you can vary your bra or shirt under the construction vest. Remember, this is a sexy costume so be sure to have at least your belly button showing for the full effect! To really complete the outfit you can wear construction boots and wool socks!

Homemade Sexy Baker or Chef Costume
A fun costume that lots of people will appreciate is a sexy chef or sexy baker costume. The costume is actually really simple to put together with the right pieces. You will need the following items
- Apron
- Chef Hat
- Wooden Spoon
- Bikini (or something small and sexy to wear)
The idea of the costume is that you try to make it look you have nothing on under the apron. So the costume involves putting on the apron, chef hat and carrying around the wooden spoon. Underneath the apron should be either skin colored shorts and shirt. However, if you're choosing a sexier version of the costume you can have on sexy underwear and a sexy bra.

Creating A Zelda Link Halloween Costumes
One of the most popular video game characters of all time is Link from Zelda. Arguably, he is one of the first three main-stream video game characters alongside Super Mario and Sonic The Hedgehog. Well, since Super Mario is such a popular Halloween costume you would think that finding a Zelda Link costume would be rather simple. Unfortunately, this is NOT the case!
To create the Zelda Link costume you will need to find the right material, clothes and supplies. To start, we recommend looking at your local thrift store for a green tunic, brown undershirt and gloves. The green tunic can be as simple as a really long shirt which goes about a foot past your waist. You can then cut off the sleeves and make a v-neck collar to create the tunic. Under the tunic should be a brown
long-sleeve shirt and your gloves should match the shirt (if possible). Next you'll want a green Link Hat just like Link wears. Finally, you'll want to finish the costume off with Zelda accessories such as a leather belt, sword and shield. Here is a full list of items that you will need for a good Zelda costume:
